Dear Parents, Staff and Students,
(selection from the January letter)
Daily student attendance is vital to student learning. Just as important is being present for the entire day. Each Kindergarten through 5th grade classroom has a rigorous schedule and curriculum to master in order to be prepared for the next year. When students arrive late or leave early they are missing vital instruction. As important as your presence at school is (helping and volunteering) so is your display of commitment and work ethic. Children learn not only by what they do but by what is modeled for them. If you value being to school on time and putting in a full day, so will your children. Research states that these values will be carried over into adulthood and job satisfaction.
Please schedule appointments after school, if at all possible. School is out at 2:05 and most offices offer afternoon appointments. As you know, everyone at Prospect is committed to the safety and well-being of the students. I want to reiterate several of our afternoon transportation rules:
- Adults picking up car riders in the front lot must have a school sign. If you do not have one you will be asked to park and come inside to sign your child out. If you need a sign please let someone in the office know.
- Changes in transportation via telephone will only be accepted before 1:30 pm.
- Parents picking up students after 1:30 will be asked to wait until dismissal, unless it is an emergency.
- Parents are asked not to come into the foyer between 1:55 and 2:05 to sign students out. Please stay in the traffic line. There are many children in this area during dismissal and this is a safety concern.
I look forward to working with each of you and your children this New Year. There is much work to be done and learning to take place, all for the sake of preparing students for success within the 21st Century
Sincerely,
Jannie Bankston
Principal
